Katya's Busy Morning by Miss Hamman's Thinkers

Katya's Busy Morning is written by Thea Feldman and it's an Animal Planet book.  You can buy it at Kohl's! Katya is a tiger who goes out hunting for food for her cubs. She thinks she hears something and goes after it, but she falls in the river instead!  She can't get any food and returns to her cubs.  She forgets about her food and goes to feed her cubs.  This book not only tells us a story but it also gives us facts about tigers. This is called a hybrid text because it contains both a story and facts.  It labels each fact with "GRRRRR-eat To Know" and teaches us things like: tigers can run 35 miles per hour and are great swimmers.  Sometimes the author puts pictures that are zoomed in close to get a better look at them and explain the fact.  Read this book to find out about tigers and learn about hybrid texts!
